Neighborhood Swatch - Ciate "Chain reaction" & Sinful Colors "where oh werewolf" Episode 1

I'm baaaaaack ... finally eh. I bet you missed me and were wondering when my next post was gonna happen. I've been a bit preoccupied for the last few weeks with my limb challenged Pug, Max.

I want to start getting into the real reason for my starting a blog and one of those things is to share nail polish swatches and newbie nail art attempts. Let's dive right in, shall we.

My most recent nail swatch is orgasmic! You'll not be surprised to hear that it's a purple swatch. I planned on doing some nail art on it but it was just too beautiful to cover up. Have a look ...

Is this not gorgeous?! Have another look, just because ...

Just look at that gorgeous purpleness in all its shiny glory. I'm not great at photography, yet but I'll get better and you'll see just how lovely nail polishes can be. This particular polish is Ciate "Chain Reaction". I base coated with OPI Nail Envy and topped it off with Essie Couture Top Coat. My index finger has a french tip done in Sinful Colors "Where Oh Werewolf". This color was graciously given to me by Stephanie at Imperfectly Painted. I won her online giveaway back in October. Besides this polish, she also sent me 2 other Sinful Colors, Devil's Stare and Couture For Sure and some ScentSationals (which of course I had to buy a beautiful purple burner for hehe).

Anywhoo, back to the polish. This was a one-coater. I should have done two because I saw in certain lights afterward that there were patches that seemed lighter. That said, I think that was because I did too many strokes. It lasted 4 days before it started to come off the nail edge which to me is great because I normally use a peel-off base and change it up every 2 days or so. When I removed it, I found this lovely layer of silver underneath that purple lusciousness. I guess that's the reason for the sheen.

I give this polish a five-finger rating.

My obsession with all things fingernail started because I was picking at my nails and at any given point I probably had 5 nails that were bloody. Here's the first things I did to try and stop myself from doing it (and to hide my bloody stumps).

Nice eh? About a year ago I decided that the way to go would be to take advantage of the nearby nail salon (in Salt Springs) and get my nails done with shellac every couple of weeks. It worked! It also had the side effect of me wanting every nail polish out there and wanting to learn some fun nail art techniques. Here's some swatches from the past year, just for shits and giggles ...

I hope you made it through all that and are still with me. If anyone wants to know what any of the polishes are, just leave a comment and I'll get back asap.

Are you a fan of nail polish? Any tips and tricks you'd like to share? I'd love to hear from you 😉 See you soon.

Cheers,
Kathleen

The Once Over:: IPSY Glam Bag - December 2016

HI Friends. Thanks for coming back.

A while back, I started following beauty blogs. My first one was Lex. I was drawn to her blog when I read an article she had written about rosacea that appeared on BuzzFeed. Based on my list of blogs that I like (off to the left there, check it out), you can tell it exploded from there. While viewing these blogs, I learned about beauty subscriptions. You can get these from so many different sources that I don't know how I didn't know about them before, duh. Knowing that I was going to be in Florida for 6 months, I decided to wait until coming here in November to start up one of them because of lot of the ones I was interested in were US based and offered free shipping within the US. You don't even want to know how long it took me to decide and how many websites I visited to look at reviews of the ones I was interested in.
As you can probably tell by my title, I chose IPSY. Due to postal issues you don't want to hear about - arrrggghhhh - my first bag was the December one.
My package arrived in this beautiful shiny fuchsia bag - ooohhh ahhhh. Of course I dove right in. Check out these pics and then of course I'll talk some more - aren't you luckayyy

As you can see, there's more than just 5 items (which I think is the norm). The makeup bag is this adorable fuzzy fuchsia (Did you know that's how you spell fuchsia? I didn't). I love it.

Inside this scrumptious little cutie I found a Hikari Cosmetics full-size liquid eyeliner in "Iris" which in case anybody doesn't know is PURPLE. In case anyone reading this doesn't know, my favorite color is PURPLE! Moving on. There was a full-size eyeliner pencil by The Balm, Mr. Write (Now) in "Jac" which is a goldish brown that probably exactly matches my eyebrows. Can't wait to try it. And, finally, there was a cream eyeshadow by Starlooks in "IPSY Rose Gold", The Balm Mad Lash mascara in Black, MPrincess eyeshadow in "Melting Maple", and pÅ«r-lisse Prevent Blue Lotus Balancing Moisturizer.

There's more! Inside that shiny fuchsia packaging there was Teeez Cosmetics Eve's Ready to Wear full-size Lipstick in "Romantic Red", Privai Aqua Gel Masque, Tarte Maracuja Oil, and Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara in, you guessed it, black.

I'm gonna cut you loose now so that you can get on with your day and more important things, although I can't imagine what would be more important than listening to me he he.

Let me know what you think of this post. Were the pics ok? How's my writing style so far? Were you impressed with the IPSY bag and it's contents. If you're planning on subscribing, why not use my link - I get some sorta points or somethin or other if you go through me. My IPSY Link

Thank you and Merry Christmas
Love

Who Am I Named After - My Blog is Born

Hello beautiful people who have taken the time to read my silly blog. This is my first post EVER! I can't believe I've taken the plunge. I stopped myself in the past because I felt like people wouldn't want to hear what I have to say. That said, I guess it doesn't really matter because this is something I'm going to enjoy so I'm doing it for myself more than anything.
So, who named me? Here's the story behind my blog name. It's short and sweet. You're welcome. My husband , David, and I bought a Camaro back in 2013. We briefly discussed getting a vanity plate and what we'd put on it if we did. Of course, you want it to reflect something about yourself but what the heck do you say? He went ahead and ordered one and surprised me with "LUVMCHN". As we are in sync most of the time, I knew what it said, "Love Machine". David proceeds to put a pic of it on fb. People comment with things like ... love mc hun? love my chin? love munchin? You get the idea. So when trying to pick something unique, I thought of this. Of course I could have called it Kathleen's blog about stuff, but I didn't like that quite as much.
You'll see in my blog description that I pretty much plan on posting about the kitchen sink. Lives are like that so I didn't want to just focus on nail art, for example. I'm not an English teacher so you may see spelling and grammatical errors. No biggie, just roll with it. I always want to hear from people following my blog. The more comments the better. I hope you don't trash talk me though cause I'd probably cry. Got a suggestion for a post, let me know. I'll be posting at least once a week. My photography and videos will get better, I promise.
Well my friend, I'll end this, my first ever blog post, with a thank you from the bottom of my heart for checking me out. I hope you come back 💜
Love,
Kathleen
